Celebrating
Our
84th Season!
The Chatham Concert Band Junior Program
The Chatham Concert Band has provided free instruction in recorder and band
instruments since the 1960's, in a unique program available to all Kent Chatham-
Kent residents. The organization is culturally diversified and believes that all
children interested in music should have the opportunity to learn instrumental
music without financial restraints.
Our Band program offers a class setting for students, parents and grandparents.
Those who would like to learn a new instrument, supplement their school music
program, or pick up an instrument they played in their youth are welcome.
9:00am - Recorder Class
The Recorder Class offers instruction in reading music and learning to play music on an inexpensive instrument while having fun in a group setting.
10:00am - Beginner Class
Once reading music has been accomplished, students of all ages can move on to learn the Band instrument of their choice. When available, these instruments are loaned to the student for the school year. This would include: flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, French horns and trombones. Percussion equipment is also available for use.
11:00am - Advanced Class
This class includes players who have graduated from the Beginner Class, or have learned their instruments elsewhere. The students continue to improve performance skills and learn new repertoire.
12:00pm - Junior Band
This is the most advanced group, intended to be a stepping stone to Senior
Band. Not all members will be Juniors.
Throughout the year, all classes perform in a Christmas Concert and a Spring
Concert.
All classes are held in the rehearsal room inside the Kiwanis Bandshell in
Tecumseh Park in Chatham, Saturday mornings from September to June. For
more information, please contact Carol Revell
